Professional Conduct

IRD-approved
advisor group status

ATAINZ is one of only three organisations recognised by Inland Revenue as an Approved Advisor Group, alongside CA ANZ and CPA Australia.

This status, granted under section 20B(5) of the Tax Administration Act 1994, means ATAINZ:

provides guidance on the operation and effect of New Zealand tax law.

enforces professional standards for members providing tax advice.

maintains a disciplinary process that holds members accountable for meeting those standards.

This recognition means eligible confidential tax advice provided by qualifying ATAINZ advisers may be protected from disclosure to Inland Revenue, subject to the requirements and limitations of the Tax Administration Act 1994.

For business owners, this provides added confidence that their adviser belongs to a recognised professional body and is accountable to clear ethical and professional standards.
